Morning Signal
Terms of Use
Last updated October 20, 2026
The rules for using Morning Signal, in plain words. The short version: it is a calm morning note for a family, not an emergency service, and it only works with the parent’s own yes.
The agreement
Morning Signal is run by Matter Development (“we”, “us”). By using the app or this website you accept these terms and Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which they include. Where the two differ about the app, Apple’s agreement applies to the license to use it, and these terms add to it.
Who can use it
- Family members who set up or join Morning Signal (“watchers”) must be adults.
- The parent whose mornings are shared must be able to agree for themselves, and agrees on their own phone before anything is shared.
- Morning Signal is for personal, family use, not for running a care business.
What it is not
Morning Signal tells a family how a parent’s morning went, from the parent’s phone. It is not an emergency service, a medical device or medical advice, and it cannot guarantee that a phone reports, that a call connects, or that anyone is safe. A quiet morning can have an ordinary reason (a phone left on the charger, a late sleep), and a normal-looking morning does not mean all is well.
In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Consent and fair use
The person whose mornings are shared must agree, on their own phone, before anything is shared, and can stop sharing at any time. You agree:
- not to use Morning Signal to watch anyone without their knowledge and agreement;
- to add a neighbor or friend as a contact only if they are happy to receive a text from Morning Signal on a missed morning;
- to give phone numbers and names that are yours to give and correct;
- not to misuse the service: no attempts to break it, overload it, or reach data that is not your family’s.
Your account
You sign in with Apple. Keep your phone locked and your Apple Account secure: whoever holds a signed-in phone can see the family’s mornings. The person who set Morning Signal up decides who is invited, and anyone in the family can leave.
Free check-in and Plus
The daily check-in (a reminder and an “I’m okay” button) works without a subscription. Morning Signal Plus adds the routine read from the phone, the full ladder, up to three watchers and the monthly report.
- Morning Signal Plus is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly, bought through the App Store.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- It renews automatically unless turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and the renewal is charged within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- Manage or cancel it in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. Deleting the app or the account does not cancel it.
- Any unused part of a free trial ends when a subscription is bought.
- One subscription covers the whole family: the parent’s phone and up to three watchers.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies.
Calls and texts
When a morning looks off and you have Plus, Morning Signal may call the parent’s phone and text the contacts you added, from our own number, in the order the app shows. You can test the call on your own phone from the app. Calls and texts depend on phone networks we do not control.
Availability
Morning Signal depends on the parent’s phone, its settings and battery, Apple’s rules for background apps, the internet and the services listed in our privacy policy. We work to keep it running but do not promise it will always be available or error-free, and we may change or stop features.
What belongs to whom
The app, its design and its words belong to us. Your family’s data belongs to you: how we handle it is described in the Privacy page, and you can delete your account at any time.
Warranty and liability
To the extent the law allows, Morning Signal is provided “as is”, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for harm that a missed, late or mistaken alert did not prevent. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law where you live that cannot be limited.
Ending
You can stop at any time: delete your account in Settings, or, on the parent’s phone, stop sharing. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, for example by sharing someone’s mornings without their agreement.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date above changes when we do. Questions: use the contact form.
